a team sport but "basketball gurus" are fixated on the talent of one player (though his stats have come back to earth lately). The prospect of having Trae Young in the NCAA Tournament leaves them salivating. However, the eye test of late say OU will more than likely be a "one and done". That perception should land OU just inside the bubble or hovering in the 10/12 territory; not the current 6th seed they enjoy. This team is given the benefit of pre-season hype or expectations and not being evaluated on their current play or slide within the B12. At 16-10 (6-8 conf.) they should hardly be considered a tournament team at the expense of other deserving teams. With 4 games remaining (KU, K St, Baylor & Iowa St) they will likely go 2-2 with wins over Iowa St and either K St or Baylor and probably a loss at KU. That scenario puts them at the end of the regular season with a 18-12 record and a conference record of 8-10. That's hardly a resume that garnishes you an elite status within the NCAA tournament. We are constantly told that the committee looks at the full body of work and then makes their decision based on that eye test. Apparently they need to pass the smell test when it comes to Oklahoma.
