That’s all well and good, but...


RB is one of the least valuable positions in the NFL Draft for good reason. RBs get torn to shreds and their careers go sideways in an instant. Frankly, I can’t think of a RB after Emmitt Smith who put up 10 excellent years in the NFL. How many put up 7 HOF-worthy years? 5? Not many.

That is an absolutely brutal position in the NFL and injuries, wear and tear are why the position is a revolving door. FWIW, I agree that Barkley looks like a fantastic prospect. That likely isn’t enough to spare him. Somebody will pull the trigger on him early and for good reason... he’s excellent and worth a shot. They’ll also almost certainly not extract what they were dreaming of from him before he is either beaten to a pulp or moves on to another team.
