Some of the "issues" may not be unique to PJ though
Even though the triple option is an unusual offense in today's college football, VT plays GT every year. For players who never faced that style of offense in HS or against GT, I do think there is a learning curve. However, when that player has faced GT 2, 3, or even 4 times, then that learning curve should get smaller and smaller because they "remember" things they "learned" from those previous games.
The reason I said some of the "issues" may not be unique is because I am reminded of all the comeback losses or "close" losses VT has had over the years. I am not saying the offense or special teams doesn't deserve their fair share of the blame for the loss. However, if the defense is the unit on the field, then they bare responsibility and reap any successes for whatever transpires while they are on the field. The same holds true for the other 2 units. Whatever happened in the previous drives is in the past and cannot be changed. The only thing the players do have control over are things to come in the future. The only question they have to answer late in the game is "Do I step up and control my destiny or allow someone else to control it for me?"
