Head-to-head

A slow Friday afternoon so I spent some time perusing the 247 Sports recruiting page. By my count, we went head-to-head with the Hoos on 15 players who ended up picking one of the two schools. Final tally: VT 14, Hoos 1. The one lone exception is a S/WR from Landstown, Joseph White. I'm not sure how strong our interest was since he is ranked lower than all of our recruits except two (and one is a long snapper).

Looking further, we out-recruited WVU to the tune of 12-3. We never had a real chance with their best recruit, Dante Stills, since his father (remember Gary Stills; has it really been that long?) was a star for WVU and his brother is currently on the WVU roster. The second of the three is a WR from South County who was supposedly a strong VT lean. Maybe we stopped recruiting him after getting commitments from at least 3 other WRs who were ranked higher. The third was a 4-star kid from Pennsylvania (Kwantel Raines) that never seemed to have that strong of an interest in VT.
