That's a good question
I prefer to keep my name off the boards. Tom is what I went by back then, but the name I use on these boards, "Newt", grew from my writings on the first floor Lee Hall bathroom stalls. I owned the stall in the middle which I called "The Shrine of Nasrudin". Writing on walls as "Newt," I spent countless hours sharing his philosophies of life with travelers as they unloaded their heavy, uncomfortable burdens.
Sounds like you were on the Vawter side of Lee. I lived just inside the first floor lobby doors (second room on the right my first year then first room on the right my second and third years 1978-1981) on the Washington Street side closest to Cassell.
J. Bek (RIP) and J.Teets were my roommates over those years. D. Beatty, R.Davis, "Fred-the Head" along with the Head RA's and others, whose names escape me, were all my neighbors on that little wing.
Some thought that I was unlucky to draw a room right across from the Head RA, but I can assure you that the benefits far out-weighed the inconvenience. Most importantly, It was extremely easy to smuggle ladies in and out.
