I agree that stats are not the "end all / be all" and can be GIGO, but it's a fact that long passes on 3rd / 4th is a much lower percentage than running plays or shorter routes. If there was less time or more time on the clock then I can understand the gamble (white I still think it's risky)... but it's a head-scratcher considering that even if the play works... there's the perfect amount of time for GT to strike back with 3 time outs.

And while I appreciate your claim that I'm a half-educated nim-wit, I'll leave my actual credentials to your imagination. :)
