College QBs from "elite" programs often underperform in NFL
College elite teams are elite because of better recruiting, better natural talent. Particularly on the offensive line. Thus QB's from the elite teams that appear to be no-miss NFL prospects flop once in the NFL and not playing behind "elite" talent but instead are behind average NFL talent. USC, in particular, has a long history of producing sure thing QBs that flop in NFL. Alabama and many other SEC programs see a similar effect. Except for Winston, FSU falls in this category also.
If I were a scout, I would subtract points from a QB from an elite program and give bonus to high-performing QBs from good - average programs. See Flaco, Rothlisberger, Romo, Tyrod, RGIII before injuries, even Vick, not to mention Brady (Michigan was average at the time). Of course there are exceptions, like Winston and Deshaun Watson (both clearly exceptional talents on their own), Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck (elite offensive line talent).
