I know a lot of young fans that love 2TE power-set style, but like you said
It just wouldn't work today, time has changed things. Even teams like Alabama with the best OL & RB talent in the country have had to start running mostly shotgun-snap spread schemes.
The SEC was one of the last places to leave that style of play, and they have some of the worst offenses in college football. It's not just their competition, it's the complete lack of competent quarterback play and offensive schemes in the conference. Which is pretty remarkable considering how much talent those teams get.
(Not preaching to you haha, sounds like you agree about the change in the game, just bothers me when some other posters talk about missing a style of play that just isn't effective today.)
