Sorry if I misread your post

sometimes communication gets lost in translation on a message board, but your post said "If there was a bonehead coaching column, Fuente got crushed" and "that column was a rout FOR WVU". So I'd think it understandable if I did so.

Either way, my point was that the stats you showed didn't do a good job at illustrating how close the teams were ON the field, because they were biased to a certain extent toward WVU having 15+ more offensive plays. If it wasn't for obvious coaching blunders it would have been harder for VT to pull off the win since our players left 10 pts on the field due to missed FGs and penalties on the goal line.

In the end I think we'll see that only giving up 24 pts to that WVU offense will have been a good showing. Some of that was due to bad penalties effectively ending drives (although you could argue holding penalties were forced by our players getting position)but we were able to force 9 punts, a FG, and a 14 play drive to end the game with zero pts.

Obviously, I find it hard to believe WVU isn't ranked, but I think rankings this early are bunk anyway. Take care of business every week and you guys will be fine in the end. Your next test will be TCU, but they just had issues with SMU on D and will be coming off a track meet with OKst. Unfortunately they'll have that off week, but I'm not sure how much you can prepare for Morgantown. Good luck the rest of the season.
