2 reasons: Hokies are saving MILLIONS;UNC/NCST/WF/UVA all agreed to H&H too

VT's most recent 6-game contract with ODU (added on) states that each school pays $250k for their respective home games (3x3). So we get 6 games against ODU for FREE. that's huge.

Getting more home games, obviously generates money off ticket sales, but with UNC/UVA/NCST all agreeing to home-and-homes, ODU is becoming a hotter scheduling commodity. Those teams all have shorter deals, so we are getting it while its cheap(free actually). ODU has also stated they want to have either UVA or VT on their schedule every single year. That seems likely, so I see the reasoning for VT.

Our Liberty deal is similar: 3 home, 2 away. They pay us $250k for our games there, and we pay $500k when the come here. So we get 5 total games for $1million. Again, very low travel expenses for Liberty, like ODU, another advantage. And if there is an away game after @Liberty, our players won't be too taxed.

So in addition, we save on travel expenses by playing that close. That's on purpose, because we have home&homes with BYU, Arizona, etc. which will incur expenses. One year we play @BYU a week after @Liberty. That's a lot better than @ECU.

Over the next decade, those two contracts will save the program millions of dollars. Millions that can be used to pay our coaches more to retain them, and cover scholarship monies.
