Dismiss the 3-3-5 at your peril
"offensive coordinators have learned how to attack the 3-3-5."
Not so fast my fried. (Love Lee Corso. He's like your crazy old grandpa.)
We ran the 3-3-5 last year in a conference known for high powered offenses and progressive thinking OCs.
Quoting Pride_and_Joy, "Using the advanced statistics, they were ranked 16th D. The Raw numbers are skewed by the B12's pass-happy offenses."
And quoting hokie-c, "16th in defensive efficiency. They played in a highly potent offensive conferenceso the total yardage metric can be a bit misleading. They have a good D."
Both quotes from this thread, http://chat.virginiatech.sportswar.com/mid/9033751/board/vtfootball/
Our DC is no Bud Foster but he's worked miracles with our D given the turnover in personnel we've had the last couple years.
As an aside, there was a book written that said Rich Rod was doomed from the start at Michigan. A significant number of the power brokers in the their alumni felt he wasn't a "Michigan Man" and were working from the beginning to make sure he failed.
