I'm not an Xs and Os guy but IIRC Rich Rod was bemoaning the fact that we were losing the recruiting battles for big bodies. One of his assistants, don't ask me who, suggested the 3-3-5 and convinced him it could work.

Remember Rich Rod wasn't afraid to adapt to his talent. His read option was born of necessity when he was at Glenville St.
