Fuente seems to be really confident in our QBs, whoever wins that job.

He's the QB guru and made Jerod Evans look like an All-ACC QB if it wasn't for those other Heisman-level QBs in Clemson and Louisville.

The concern is really in the skill players surrounding the QB. Fuente and the coaching staff have made it a point-of-emphasis since spring to develop and find talent in the WR corps, TEs, H-back, and even the RBs. There were a couple of WR transfers, one from Ohio State, now on the team. Several new faces this offseason that all have been getting lots and lots of reps. Outside of Cam Phillips, who will be the go-to star of the group, the rest is up for grabs.

TE is an area VT fans are still trying to wrap our heads around what that role is in Fuente's offense. Last year and in previous offenses, he likes to move his TEs and H-backs around. That wasn't Bucky Hodges' role who really played out-wide last year, it was Sam Rogers. We have a freshman that looks the part Dalton Keene that's expected to get playing time there. But Chris Cunningham is the projected starter, who is more of an athletic pass-catching TE. He had a couple of catches and 4 touchdowns last season.

RB should be Travon McMillian, who was a 1,000+ yard rusher his freshman year. Last year the offensive staff went away from the backs and made Jerod Evans the lead rusher. I have a feeling the coach will want to use the RBs more this season than last. VT doesn't have a big body QB anymore, but Fuente seems to be excited about the addition of freshman 6'0 220 Jalen Holston. We expect him to get some carries this season, especially if McMillian doesn't step up.

Up front, VT returns a lot. Really excited to see Wyatt Teller and Nijman on the left side. They both have NFL-level ability at the tackle and guard spots. Throw in Gallo as well, and I'm confident there. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the right side. Honestly, I'm still learning the depth chart up front but the left side has solidified pretty well last year.

So, as you mentioned... The offense lost some pieces, but unlike Clemson, we're still developing our talent to replace our starters. Dabo has brought his own talented guys in for some time now and has a great system going there. Eventually, VT will bring in more-and-more talent on offense, which would be something VT fans aren't used now having an offensive-minded head coach. After last season, we're enjoying the ride and hoping Fuente continues to bring this program back to the top 10 program it once was!
