Can't give it up. A person could pay the difference when he chose his seat
Here is an actual FAQ from the Donor Guide 2017 booklet sent out by the Athletic Department.
Q - If I give $1,200 (Silver Hokie Level) by March 31, 2017, and want to choose four seats in a section with a $350 per-seat donation requirement ($1,400 total) when selecting my seats, what do I need to do?
A - If based on your priority ranking, you are able to select seats in that section, you would then be asked to give an additional gift of $200 to the Hokie Scholarship Fund at the time of your selection in order to be able to select those tickets for 2017.
This certainly says to me if I had wanted $600 seats when I selected, and they were available, I could get them, as long as I promptly gave the difference in my initial contribution and what was needed for those $600 seats.
Everything I have read and heard says the $800/$600/$350/$200/$100 seats has nothing to do with whether you are a Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Orange & Maroon, or Hokie. It has everything to do with your priority number and whether or not you want to purchase the right to sit in those higher priced seats.
