Sy is our only true big man and he'll play to the 2nd media timeout and that's it. After that it's usually 4 guards and LeDay (an undersized power forward that will play center).

With four guards, we don't rebound particularly well, but the guards will crash the defensive boards. If one of them gets it, they will push it and push it fast. We run a lot and we often wear teams down by the end of the game.

If we don't get the fast break, we'll run some high sets where we will try to get penetrate to the basket. If the guards get into the lane, they'll either finish or it will be a dish to the 3pt line to someone whose defender helped. At that point, it'll be swung around the arc to the point where the defense can't get to the open shooter. So yea, what everyone else has already said - free throws, layup or 3 pointer is our offense. Everyone on the team is capable of scoring and does. Everyone shoots the three, everyone can drive. They are a very good offensive team.

We aren't a particularly great defensive team though and we're prone to giving up offensive rebounds. We play mostly a matchup zone for a couple of reasons.
1. Most of our guards aren't particularly good defensively one on one and will get beat off the dribble.
2. We are undersized so LeDay will often need help with a double down on other big men. He'll often front and have help on the backside.
3. We aren't deep. We run 7 and sometimes we'll end up in foul trouble. It's part of the reason why LeDay and Allen come off the bench despite the fact that they arguably should be the starters.

So yea, the outlook isn't good on defense, but they play with a lot of heart and they're coached very well. They've been in a lot of tight games and they know how to stay within striking distance. They'll leave it all out on the court.

If they go completely cold from 3pt, it'll be a blowout. VT doesn't blow out many teams, so I expect a close game.
