Also, consider that Miami is a private school and the scholarships are
much more expensive from a budgeting standpoint. The financial pressures on the Miami athletic budget are insane.
That was the motivating factor for Miami to leave the Big East (where they enjoyed an incentivized membership with bigger payouts than the rest of the membership). They went to the ACC to try to balance their budget. No more no less.
So from a coaching standpoint, the pressure to win at Miami is tremendous. They have to win in order to make their budget - payouts, merchandising/licensing, ticket sales, donations, etc.
Live fast. Die hard.
