There's a difference Hoakie82

There is a difference between being a good writer/sportswriter and being vindictive petty little fool. Yes, 2017, given all the success Virginia TEch has achieved as a university to say "let it go".

But I'd be curious how many Bill Brill column's you read?

Assuming you were in the Roanoke market in the 1980's, you will recall that was before the Internet. You couldn't choose to jump to the Richmond times or the Washington Post .com if you didn't like the material in the Roanoke Times.

so every morning, your view to the world was delivered by the Roanoke Times and many a Hokies was boiled to a stage of anger and rage by the demeaning vindictive words of Mr. Brill.

Brill was certainly a good writer. He poked literary jabs with the best of them. It's unfortunate that his old columns aren't available. I imagine his family realizes its better not to stir the pot.

25-30 years later, its possible to let it go because Virginia Tech overcame the small box Brill wanted to kick to the curb. Tech is now everything Brill said it could never be.

But overall Hoakie82, you miss the point. There was plenty to criticize about Tech athletics in the late 1980's. But Brill was never a neutral observer. He always had it out for Tech. He hated everything about you, and he used his exclusive role as the sole voice in Roanoke to mock and demean Tech.

30 years later, I'll let it go, but I won't forget the evil intent of the man to mock the school I loved.
