I'm crushed beyond belief that the Falcons lost tonight. I don't think I can say more about that.

I seem to choose the teams that can't get over the top. I live in Atlanta and I know the Hawks have gone as far as they can ever go. I hope that the rebuilding Braves will hopefully move to contender status this yearbut it may be one year too early. I hope Atlanta United will be great in their first season, but I know an expansion team will take a few years to be competitive. I hope the Falcons can somehow rebound from this killer defeat but I know full well that teams that lose in the Super Bowl, especially in heartbreaking fashion, never return to the big game.

I was there in the Superdome when the Hokies has a fourth quarter lead on Florida State. I was crushed that night and hoped that we could make it back. 17 years later, we are once again competitive but we are not Alabama or Clemson just yet.

Maybe I'll just take solace in an NCAA appearance for the Hokies this year and that may make me feel a little better.

Right now, I need to take a good, long break from sports or I need to start rooting for winning teams.
