There are some other alumni who have come back. Charlie Phlegar is the head of the new advancement division for the university. Matt Winston is now the VP of alumni relations.

This is a cycle that ebbs and wanes. We benefited immensely from the leadership of Dr. Steger, Frank Beamer, Tom Tillar, Ray Smoot, etc. They cycled through and it was time to get a fresh perspective. I would not be surprised if we have a new crop of alumni coming back in 15-20 years to coincide with the recent growth of the university who have gone out and worked at other universities and out in the public/private sector.

The great thing about all the outside hires is they all seem to have adopted to the important aspects of the university culture, why helping everyone else contemporize a bit and change for the better. That's a win-win in my book.
