I agree with your observations and have the following additional observations; humans are "hard wired" to expect the worse but hope for the best. That is a result of our deeply ingrained mental protections resulting from our days of "eat or be eaten". We had to expect the worse scenarios and the survival instincts embedded in our limbic system made certain we expected the worse and keep us constantly on guard. I get frustrated with the negative posting at times and the constant "we won but" mentality however I recognize that is the way humans think and feel most of the time. Some folks, and I bet you know some, have transcended those "limbic system" neuronal "firings" and see things in a more realistic light. Hopefully all of us are moving in that direction!
