Miami recruiting stature prolly higher because of talent proximity. If
VT can do an FSU and "have the advantage of being an in-state choice for the deepest group of college football prospects in one place (757 & NOVA) and recruit up and down the East Coast as well as anyone", then VT will start to get elite respect. Beat any of these three (FSU, Clemson, and Miami) high profilers, then respect will come sooner. VT did beat Miami this past season, after a dry spell, but it was likely a down year for them. Expectations are that Richt will pick up elite recruiting again. If not, with crowded F5 recruiting competition in Florida, and a Richt coaching let-down, VT can surely emerge to join the ranks of FSU and Clemson under Fisher and Swinney.
