Now the problem is that they don't have more than a couple impactful players on defense, and their running game is non-existent.

Honestly, it's hard to be too upset about them having their first back-to-back winning seasons in 25 years. If they can sign Cousins and improve the defense, they should be in the mix for a playoff spot next year.
