He got passed over when the new coach came in. He probably figured this
was a way to get that coach fired by helping him lose games and then when a new coach came in he would have another shot at returning to the coaching staff. Probably no money involved most coaching staff's would be very weary of getting caught paying for the information and dubious as to the validity of the information. The play books could be subterfuge to make the opposing teams waste practice time preparing for fake plays.
