Evidently, this is the issue:


Digital cameras are able to reproduce purple, but only within the sRGB color space, which excludes "deep purple" or "ultra-violet" tones.
Therefore if the purple tone is outside the sRGB color space it gets converted into a blue, the high-frequency violet is simply outside the camera's native colour space.
