Texas is #1 in athletic department revenues in the country. They are the prime school in the second biggest state in the country that happens to be crazy for high school/college football. LSU is a smaller state with not as much talent, lower revenues, and in the same division as the current best program in the country. You could have the second best program in the country every year and not even win your division. LSU fans are also completely crazy whereas Texas fans are probably ready to give a coach a few years.
