10 Thoughts on the loss to Gah Tech.....

10) Turnovers: The game started with us winning the toss and uncharacteristically electing to receive. On the opening kickoff we promptly turned the ball over. Turnovers are always bad, but against a ball control team like GT, they are killers. We had 3 fumbles, but lost only one. But Evans contributed with 2 drive stopping INT's that squashed any momentum we were gaining. Three turnovers plus a blocked FG and a failed 4th down attempt. It's hard to beat anybody like that, it's harder to beat GT.

9) We've played some quirky offensive schemes this year from Syracuse and their breakneck speed to GT and their run oriented grind the clock offense. Then a lot of teams that seem to play a scheme like ours, and Miami's pro-style offense.

8) I'm convinced the ACC officials have no earthly idea what a pass interference is: offensive or defensive.

7) Instant Replay: It's a failed concept. If people in a warm booth or in a room in NC can't watch a TV replay in slow motion over and over and get a call even close to being right, then it's a useless tool.

6) The crowd seemed a little flat to me for it to be the first home game since Miami and with the Coastal Division on the line. Obviously the game got started off real bad with the fumble on the opening kickoff, but even Sandman seemed a bit flat. Maybe that's just me.

5) Evans hasn't seemed quite as accurate since his injury at Pitt. I saw him limp back to the LOS a few times Saturday and he has thrown a lot of balls that are high or behind the receiver.

4) I know the defense is beat up, but they have been off the last few weeks. We, once again, allowed a QB to run for over 100 yards (although you could somewhat understand this QB since he's more of a runner than a QB) and we got gashed by 2 big plays that put this game away early.

3) Fans need to chill. I heard it in the stands Saturday. What you doing Stinespring!! You suck Glennon!! Put in JuJu!! Ok, they aren't here anymore but it was the same thing. Crazy thing is you never hear people yelling "FIRE FOSTER!!" With this offense it truly comes down to execution. How many missed blocks have you seen McMillan make this year?? Fuente's system works but it has to be executed. The jet sweeps and screens set up the middle game which set up the deep ball. We moved the ball Saturday, but you can't miss wide open receivers, miss blocks on sweeps and turn the ball over. Fact is, we have exceeded expectations for this point in the season. We were picked by many to be a 6-7 win team and finish 4th in the Coastal. We are 2 wins from 9 wins and 1 win from a berth in the ACC-CG.

2) As disappointing as that game was I truly think we finish this thing. All our goals are still in front of us. Beat UVa and we go to Charlotte, ummmm sorry.... Orlando. Beat ND and we gain momentum on a hallowed field against the one team I've always to play and beat. I have noticed that after our last 2 losses Fuente has righted the ship. The injury bug has bitten us and you can tell we are a tired team. But if you can't get up for playing Notre Dame at their storied stadium and for our in stated rival to win the coastal, then you don't deserve to play in the ACC-CG.
