I think you are ignoring how bad Pitt was in it's other games

I'm pretty sure Pitt was like 1-6 in 2001 or 2003 with a win over very marginal (1AA?) when they thumped us. That's what sticks in my mind. Pitt has not been favored to win in the past 15 years, yet ...

You're original post may correctly call into question our quality (off-peak), but doesn't address their lack of quality.
