Their fans and alumni, on a large scale but not all, have become even more insular and even more detached from reality. That is why there will be no lesson learned there until the program is shut down, for a minimum of four years . Awards and wins need to be stripped and Paterno's name scrubbed from the record books. Then after the four year cancellation if they have followed the letter of the law they can play again on a probationary period of reduced scholarships and no post season play. Make them prove that they are ready to be a school that is more than a football team. This will never happen, but, it is what is needed for that community.
