For some maybe....maybe OSU, Florida State, Auburn or whomever may have parlayed cheating into national championship runs or major Bowls, getting the money and national prestige that comes with it. Baylor has risen in prominence.

But what has the UNC football program gained? I guess you could say that they were close to reaching heights before players talked.

I guess depeneds on the goals or what programs think they will get out of it? Potential NC? Odds are low unless you are the prominent programs. Money? national prominence. VT gained national prominence without presumably cheating, went to BCS bowls without cheating (whatever one says about winning the ACC back then, fine). VT's little downturn has nothing to do with cheating or not cheating so VT could have remained a top 15 nationally prominent program without cheating and that brings with it recruits, money, prominence, bow appearances, and the chance to compete for a NC if things fall right.
