So I'm prob the #1 guy you'd expect to hop on and beat the"buzz is leaving"

horse.

But it's in that context you should know that I think this is an incredible reach.

Honestly when I read it all I was hearing is "I'm not going to work again until I have to." Seriously.. You can get paid to work or get paid to not work. At least take a year. "not the right timing"

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

In any case, I was the one beating the drum about buzz leaving in the offseason, but, as far as next year, there is absolutely no "plan" ... college coaching carousels are borne of opportunity. Always. There is no plan. There is just doing everything you physically and mentally can every day to get on top and stay on top if you are a cbb coach. One day, one year at a time. Nothing is guaranteeed!

So no, the layer thing has nothing to do with buzz's long-term standing as our coach.

See, they're both professional coaches. Anything that they talked about - the idea of whether or not there were any guarantees about how long any kind of arrangement would last - is not something that even goes across their brain waves. does that make any sense? Layer wouldn't ask something so stupid and Buzz wouldn't be able to answer a question so ridiculous. Because the reality is if you're in the profession you know that you're only as good as your last season and you have to take every opportunity that comes up if you're still trying to advance, and

buzz is still trying to advance. that's what makes him such a dangerously good coach. he's got the fire.

whoever gets that job is going to get their ass worked to DEATH.

Why would Dale Layer want that?

All makes sense to me.
