Overpraising weak opponents and taking responsibility for screw ups

The obvious recruiting and offensive improvement were taken, so I chose this one.

This is one of those things that needs balance. I know FB was very well liked and respected, but I felt at times that he was almost too respectful.

There are always going to be teams that we play that should not be in the same league as Virginia Tech. There are those teams that we should beat every single time. My problem was when the unthinkable happened and we lost to a team we never should have lost to, the "Well (insert team here) really got after us today and just kind of surprised us. They're a great football team, are really well coached, and are going to give teams problems all season" speech. As a fan, that kind of attitude made those unthinkable losses even harder.

For once, I just wanted FB to come out and say something like "Well, we really shouldn't have lost that one today. I just didn't have the kids prepared the way they should have and we're going to go back and see what we could have done better". If the offense was horrible, say the offense lost the game. If our defense was horrible, say the defense was horrible. I guess as a fan it makes it harder when it appears that everybody knows the reason we lost except the head coach.

I know FB was just trying to be complimentary, not throw his kids under the bus and not come across as negative or condescending to opponents. There has to be a balance between being nice, sportsmanship, etc and respectfully calling a spade a spade.

I DO NOT want a Rich Rod or Lane Kiffin attitude from the new coaching staff, but a little more of the "we really should have won this one and we screwed up" would make some losses a little more palatable.
