At the town hall I went to they were very clear about what the new program is about. They want to get back to what the core mission of the Hokie Club is, which is to fund the annual cost of athletic scholarships. The fact that they haven't been able to pay that bill the last couple years and are having to take money from operations to cover the shortfall is the catalyst for the change.

I used to specifically earmark my donation for the swim team, but now I won't be able to do that. Or I guess I should say, I could still do that, but then my donation wouldn't count towards covering the seat fees for my football tickets (so I will comply with the new giving model).
