A reasonable compromise would be for the money earned from ...


.... an endowed scholarship be credited to the new fee, of say $800 per seat.

Buying 4 tickets means an $800 x4 = $3200 contribution. If the endowment earns more or equal to $3200, you're in high cotton. If it earns something less than $3200, then the fan who funded the scholarship would just make up the difference.
