I don't get some of the negativity towards the new Hokie Club policy

First, this is not intended to offend anyone that has donated to the athletic program over the years. I saw someone posted in the article that Will wrote that he donated $50,000 at one time. To me that is amazing and you should be commended. Personally, I do not have that kind of money to donate.

This change was needed for VT athletics to keep up with the other schools financially. We all want VT sports to do well and for VT Football to be back at the top of the ACC and potentially competing for a national championship. This new program will help in that regard. Just about every school in the country has a program similar to this and it is amazing that VT has taken so long to do the same.

4% of living alumni donate to VT athletics? That is shocking to me. I am also part of the 96% and that is going to change. It won't be much at first, but I feel like I need to do SOME part to support VT athletics. Obviously, buying a couple of game tickets from a friend every year isn't going to get it done.

I hope the long time donors will still be supportive.
