I think Gobble is onto something here. I have also been wrestling with this as it relates to recruiting the top players from the State of Virginia. Some of our best recruiting years have been when both UVA and VT were battling it out for the states top 10 to 15 recruits.Those recruits would visit both schools with both in their top choices and would ultimately be a UVA type kid/player or a VT type player and VT would always get our share of the recruits in the state. Once the dynamic changed where it became just VT as an option, the state evolved into a wide open recruiting ground with many other good choices for the states best players and VT began losing out on more of them. With a solid choice in UVA and hopefully an even better choice in VT, I think we will benefit greatly by keeping more of our best players and their families in state.

Healthy debate is welcome as I may be way off on this theory....Thx
