The fact that they will earn their reps doesn't mean "there can be only one." It just means if you stink it up, you'll get less, and if you tear it up, you'll get more. Multiple players can do well, just as multiple players can do poorly.

As a coach, I'd rather have a QB race develop and carry over into fall practice, simply to avoid complacency among the top 2 or 3. Given the fact that the coaches have to teach and install a new offense, I don't think a starter will be named until after a week of fall practice. If it happens sooner, it could mean there's less talent among the bunch than we'd thought.
