I don't think you can specifically say one way or another is right...in the end, there has to be a compromise solution.

When I was in school, the students had the side opposite the scorers table, behind where the media sat until this year.

Don't know if that is entirely feasible anymore, but something needs to be done to bring the students back to the game - it is, THEIR team, most importantly.
