Morning after thoughts.

1) VT finished 6th in the ACC this season. Against teams seeded 7-14, VT was 9-2, including a 4-2 record on the road or neutral sites. 5 of those wins came against teams that will be playing in postseason tournaments. None of us could have reasonably predicted that on November 1, and anybody that predicted that on January 1 might actually have been certifiably insane.

2) Miami has five seniors and at times was playing with almost 20 years college experience on the court. VT played with less than half of that for much of the game. Just wait until that experience level shifts over the next couple of seasons.

3) VT has a freshman PG, a freshman Wing and a freshman PF that I wouldn't trade for anybody. And we get to pair them with Med Hill for three more years. (This is why I don't think Buzz leaves for three more years)

4) Malcolm Brogdon could be Angel Rodriguez's father. Think about that for a second

5) VT hadn't won 6 straight conference games in an incredibly long time. We lost last night, but you have to appreciate a good winning streak, much like Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh.

6) When VT was 13-13, 5-8 in the ACC, just a few weeks ago, most of us were hoping for the 10 seed and avoiding playing on the first day of the ACC tournament. We all thought the NIT was a pipe dream and were hoping for a .500 record to be eligible for the CBI or whatever it is. Now, VT is 19-14; 11-9 ACC and we probably get at least one chance to go to the Cassell and support our boys in a home NIT match. What a turnaround.

7) It feels like VT is ahead of schedule, doesn't it? It seems like the rebuilding process goes like this: Year 1, lose big; Year 2, lose small; Year 3, win small; Year 4, win big. It seems like we got Year Two out of the way back in January and moved on to Year 3 in February and tried to start on Year 4 in March.

8) Great VT fan support in DC! That should carry over to the NIT and I think next season will be great in the Cassell. VT went 7-2 at home in the ACC, including 2-2 against ranked teams and that could improve next year.

What a season And it's not over!!
