I don't think NFL success translates to college success


In the NFL, there is a lot more parity across players/positions than in college. If you happen to have a weak player, you draft a better player, pick up a free agent, etc. Coaches can scheme their plays and then fit the players into their system (or draft ones).

To be a good college coach, you have to be a good recruiter as that is the lifeblood of any program. You can't just go out and pick up a player to fix a weak spot like you can in the NFL. College coaches have to fit their scheme to their players. Most college teams have a handful of skill players and coaches have to work with what they have. I actually think college coaches may have it tougher.
