Story lies somewhere between bizarre and stupid
Warmbier was challenged by a woman from a Methodist to steal such a sign. She offered 10K for the act and 200K if got arrested. But Warmbier gets nothing if he blames his actions on her, or if the church gets mentioned.
I traveled through East Germany as a teenager on a train. We had specific instructions to not look directly at the East German guards. We followed our instructions. You don't mess with tyranny.
Dumb action on Warmbier's part and I can't imagine UVa or the Methodist Church are happy to have their names in the story. [Post edited by Hokie1992 at 03/01/2016 07:46AM]
