I don't think they had much of a choice...

they were playing and trying to develop them at the same time.

The only thing I noticed between Bud and Gray was the Stroman situation against ECU or some team early in the season. The game that that Kendall was a game time decision where he couldn't keep playing. There were 3 or 4 or 5 FR getting pressed into action before they were ready. They now have game experience and an offseason to take to one position. The way last season played out I think the coaches know strengths and weaknesses of each player, and where they would be utilized best moving forward.

There could have been more tension between Bud and Gray than we know, but I really don't think Bud was unhappy with Gray for the way he utilized the young DBs. I think it was the situation Bud didn't like, and he would prefer each player to have one primary position, and enough players to fill out the depth of each position, and every player having more experience. Losing Reavis, then Fuller was a major setback for the defensive secondary last year, but now it makes putting this year's team together, easier. Losing Facyson for the spring is only going to give the others more reps this spring.
