"salary cap" type approach would be nice...awfully tough to operationalize though.

The other thing that would be nice is if there could be some sort of admission standards...impossible to implement, but conceptually nice. I really don't mind that standards are different for athletes than for others, because those kids are bringing value to the university that isn't captured in their HS transcript or test scores...but it'd be nice if the bar could only be lowered a limited amount.
