Think it's the SACS, but you are correct, they are on academic probation
from their accreditation agency. It already is costing them some grant money, a second year (which they are in danger of getting), could cost them hundreds of millions. Schools the size of UNC don't get put on probation, yet they did. UNC is losing highly regarded faculty over this right now, hard to believe a few trust fund guys are willing to trash a once great university to win a few games.
It will interesting to see what happens if UNC's probation is extended. There is no 3rd year of probation, fix it after year 2 or accreditation is lifted. That would cost the state of NC billions of dollars, not millions. [Post edited by SWVAHokie at 02/13/2016 1:12PM]
