The english on that ball was weird. I'm not sure if he consciously thought it, but it seemed like it either hit out of bounds or was going to go out of bounds. By the time it was clearly not out of bounds and coming back to him, the whistle blew.

It was just an odd play. I'm sure if he had it to do over again, he would have grabbed it but it wasn't clear if it hit the net or maybe it was going to go out of bounds and he didn't want to muff it and give them the ball back.
