Takeaways from last night

My un-expert observations from last night, not a lot of negative here as I think UNC is playing like a 2-3 seed at the moment and they might be the deepest team outside of Gonzaga/Baylor in the field.

- MY thoroughly outcoached Roy in the 1st, their young guys had no idea how to handle our screening action. Credit to Roy who taught his bigs how to fight through screens in the tunnel on the way back in.

- Radford and Mutts are becoming major matchup problems if they continue to knock down midrange and outside jumpers. Radford is almost unguardable for guys under 6'5 and Mutts is too physical and athletic for anyone that's not an NBA level wing.

- Bede played an excellent 1st half, his defense on Love was instrumental and his passing looked great. Had a worse 2nd half but without him this game probably isn't that close.

- NC has the deepest frontcourt in the country. Aluma held his own on defense and on the boards in the 1st half but seriously wore down in the latter 2nd. We need Pemsl or Ojiako to contribute. Luckily Gonzaga is the only other team in the tournament who plays 2 bigs like that 100% of the time.

- Our defense is fierce, when it's combined with fresh legs rebounding we're very hard to score on. It's only when fatigue sets in that we get in trouble. This is where more contribution from Bam and backup bigs is needed. I expect N'Guessan gets more time against teams that aren't all 6'11 245.

- Our results against good teams follow Keve's 3pt %, when he hits a couple we win, if he's off we generally lose. He needed one to fall last night to build his confidence.

- Cattoor and Alleyne should move into the vacated 3pt specialist role Cone was playing. Both those guys are money coming off pin-downs and with the threat Radford and Mutts pose off the dribble that's a shot we can get all night. Alleyne in particular kept us in it in the 2nd half late.

- We're going to be incredibly under-seeded based on our weak resume. None of the 8/9 teams scare me, and any 1 should not want to play this team.

Overall we're a defensive driven team which bodes well for the NCAAT. We probably would've beaten any other team in the ACC last night even with the missed FTs and layups, but we probably don't rush those against anyone else. We beat UVA playing worse because they don't have anywhere near the post-depth UNC does.
