I think they thought it was likely that one would leave, but I don't think they were shocked that two left, but definitely disappointed. Obviously not ideal....and thats something we can all agree on. I think even Burmeister was considering it as well at some point. Looking back at it, it seems like whichever two left, the third guy that was remaining was going to stay. I get why it happened. If you don't name a "guy", and stick with them. They look at their options. The part that coaches need to realize these days that if you don't pick a starter, you lose all the power at that point. The guy that may have been your front runner might just leave. Not an easy spot to be in as a coach. But it could be worse....if we were a mid major...pretty much any star player we had would leave for greener pastures even if we were going to start them. Our players that have left usually want larger roles or guarantees that we couldn't or were unwilling to give them.
