Their softball field has turf and a synthetic infield that plays like dirt
but can absorb water. One of their officials told me that they were capable of playing in rain, if necessary, at a rate of 3” per hour. The facility is a world class, brick structure that purportedly cost 5-7 million dollars. They have a former Olympian as their coach. There is nothing small time about Liberty. A few years ago I told my wife that they would become the premier athletic university in the state and likely join the ACC. My comment was spurred by the fact that there were 13 massive cranes on the campus at that time busy building brand new facilities, most of them for athletic$.
