I would rather see college being about folks there to get an education, and being part of a community, and scholarships being an opportunity to help a student and their family, in terms of being able to afford college and get that education.

I grew up primarily watching pro sports and hardly any college at all. Since graduating back in 1990 from VT, I am now to the point that the MLB (and sometimes the NHL) is all I watch in terms of pro sports - NBA and NFL are completely gone. I enjoy college football and basketball, though it is increasingly going the way of pro sports, and my interest is slowly beginning to wane for that reason. I will certainly never again donate funds to any college's athletic department, aside from purchasing tickets/attending games or purchasing any merchandise that I might want to wear.
