Bear with me... Hypothetical: I open a new restaurant, over 5 years...

...it makes less money each year.
Obviously, it's worse during coronavirus, for that year.

I then ask my investors to pony up because it's getting harder and harder to stay afloat.

Their reply, "Why would I keep giving money to an entity that continues to operate in the red (with losses) year after year? Other restaurants that opened before and after you are prospering."

Is this any different? It's not personal. It's business.

If this was a stock, I would not invest.

I say this as someone who donates. To what end? For the pride of giving back?

Obviously, I've come to terms with the decisions of the past 48 hours. Honestly, the bowl streak hurts more than the retainment, in my opinion.

That said, for those "optimists" saying what they say, calling those who critique mediocrity complainers, what do you honestly expect?

People here act like we are a perfect team and live by 'perfect is the enemy of good.' Meaning, there are diminishing returns on trying to achieve perfection versus just trying to be good.

However, we aren't good.

This is not a knock on Blacksburg.
This is not a knock on VT.
This is not a knock on our players.
This is not a knock on our recruits.
This is not a knock on how good of a person or a father our coach may be.

Simply put, statistically, objectively, we are not a good football team at 5-6.

Duke outrecruited Virginia Tech.
UVA outrecruited Virginia Tech.
The entire Coastal did in 2020.

We are not good.
We are a failing restaurant, a bad investment. And keeping the head management in this position, the manager of the restaurant or the stock manager in my multifaceted example, will likely not lead to a successful outcome.

I hope to be proved wrong.
