twice, this contract could have ended mercifully this year after 12/15 with just a $1.5 mill buyout. Now its $10 mill. He also negotiated the worst sports apparel deal in all of P5 football. Had he even negotiated a semi-competent contract, VT would be making $2 mill more per year than now ($12 mill over 6 years since his hire in 2014). For context, Wake Forest makes nearly $2 million more per year than VT with their sports apparel deal. Should any school keep an AD who has cost them $20 million?
